The first step is to have a goal, even if your goal is to have no goal, choose to be aware of that & call it ‘playfully curious’ instead of ‘no goal’ …

See these circles, everything in your life is in the circles & it’s either within your influence or not. If it is in your influence you can have a goal to change it & if it isn’t you can have the goal to change how you feel about it. A lot of people who get fed up with the world need to stop watching the news & focus on something they can do.

An excellent way to choose a goal is to think of what you want & how it overlaps to what is currently happening in the world so it’s a realistic goal.

Choosing a goal from the pie of life…

When you have thought about what goal you want to focus on then you need a strategy to make it happen. In NLP there is a process to go through called ‘Well Formed Outcomes’. It makes sure you consider everything you need to have considered to be able to get the outcome you want, ultimately it ensures you create a goal that you are in control of, even if that means changing it from ‘getting X job’ to ‘being the best I can be to get X job’.

It also considers that as humans we are apt to change our minds, so it questions the ultimate ‘want’ you are satisfying, in order to get you there. Literally “What’s the values that hold this as important?” So that as you change you can adapt your goal within that as a framework.
